Recipe for the cake (Makes 11 cake pops)
175g caster sugar
3 large eggs
175g self raising flour
1tsp baking powder
1tsp vanilla extract
Mix the butter and sugar together
Add the eggs and mix
Add the self raising flour, baking powder & vanilla extract and mix
Pour into a greased tin and cook for 50 minutes on 180c. To check if cooked insert a knife into the middle of the cake, if cooked knife should be clear.
For the butter cream
Mix together 50g butter and 100g icing sugar
How to make cake pops
Cut off the edges of the cake and crumble into a bowl. Add a little bit of buttercream into the cake and combine with a fork or your hands until a dough is formed.
Take a handful of dough and carefully mould into shape pinching the top of the cake pop for the ears.
Melt 3/4 a bag of white candy melts and dip 1cm of the cake pop stick in the melts. Insert into cake pop and leave to set for 10 minutes. For faster results pop in the freezer.
Once the cake pops are set dip the cake pop into the candy melts and tap off the excess (If your candy melts are too thick add 1/4 bar of melted white chocolate into the melts and stir.
Take a paintbrush and edible paint and paint on the pandas features.
