My Favourite Foundations & Powders

As you can see below I have ALOT of foundations and powders!  I have certainly been experimenting with a number of brands and shades over the past few years so I wanted to share these with you!

Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer Light
This is the very first and only primer I have ever used and it’s like putting silk on your face! You only need a tiny amount (pea size) to add to clean or moisturised skin and it’s designed to leave a smooth matte finish all day – just make sure you take your makeup off properly at the end of the day as I found it can leave you spotty. Ideal for oily, acne-prone or sensitive skin it has a blend of vitamins and antioxidants helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and pores for visibly softer skin – which is what every girl wants!  It can be worn alone or under foundation to increase its longevity.

Max Factor Lasting Performance Foundation
I have been using this foundation for years and it was the first brand that I purchased, it was always my go-to and I have played around with a number of different shades to achieve different looks.  I would usually wear a fair or soft beige during the day and to take it into the night I would mix it with some natural bronze.  I do find that you sometimes need to re-apply during the day and I tend to get that white mark either side of my mouth so need to have a little check in the mirror every so often.  It applies lovely and has a smooth finish.

Rimmel Lasting Finish 25hour Foundation with comfort serum
Rimmel London Match Perfection Foundation
These foundations are one of my favourites and they recently featured in Zoella’s January favourites. They both leave a lightweight smooth coverage and last pretty much all day covering skin perfections leaving a healthy looking skin.

Rimmel London Stay Matte Foundation
This foundation is my current favourite! The liquid mousse is so light and is oil and grease free leaving a glowing result.  I have received a number of compliments when using this foundation, it applies lovely with a makeup sponge and lasts all day.  You only need a tiny amount to cover your whole face so it lasts a long time!

L’Oréal Paris True Match Foundation
I do not tend to wear this one much anymore as I have other favourite brands but if you are looking for a foundation with a creamy texture this one is for you.  It cancels imperfections and blends perfectly with skin’s textures.

Studi Fix Fluid SPF 15
This foundation was picked by a makeup artist on the MAC stand and i’m pretty disappointed with it.  It applies well but it makes me look like a yellow ghost is I think it is the wrong shade for me.  It looked fine in the shop so I purchased it but it looked completely different in the mirror at home!  It does however apply lovely.

Max Factor Crème Puff Powder Compact
Along with the foundation this powder is the first brand I began wearing.  I love the flawless matte finish this powder leaves and it leaves your skin with a healthy glow.  It’s super smooth and easy to apply.

L’Oréal Paris True Match Powder
The micro-fine formula lets you apply a translucent layer or build up more intense coverage to even your skin tone and cover imperfections flawlessly.  This powder is one of my favourites and instead of using a brush I tend to use the makeup pad which comes with it for a even overall coverage.  It even has a mirror in the case to ensure you do not end up with any patches!

Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder
Free of fragrance, oils, parabens and talc, and because it won’t clog pores, this powder is great for all skin types.  The shade I purchased is a little too light for me so for me it doesn’t really look like i’m wearing anything but it’s great if you’ve applied a bit too much foundation and you want to tone it down a bit with this powder.

Natural Collection Loose Powder
I was pretty impressed with this powder and if you can’t afford Bare Minerals it’s a perfect alternative. It’s very fine and leaves a light coverage as is perfect to pop in your handbag to top up your makeup throughout the day.
